A group of deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) from Jiangsu province carried out field inspections on the implementation of rural revitalization in Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, last month.

The group was led by Chen Zhenning, an NPC deputy and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. The inspections were part of their preparations to make high-quality motions at next year's NPC session, the group said.

One of the places they visited was Shanjuan village in Zhangzhu town. Shanjuan is a model village in the local construction of beautiful countryside project.

When implementing the rural revitalization strategy, Shanjuan has placed equal emphasis on industrial development, ecological protection, rural civilization construction and the improvement of people's livelihoods, which was fully affirmed by the group.

Baita village, in Xizhu town, has invested more than 300 million yuan ($47.09 million) in projects centered on environmental protection and cultural and tourism development. During the visit, the group gained more information about the practices made by Baita over the years in order to accelerate the integrated development of agriculture and tourism, and to help local farmers increase their income.

In addition to field visits, the group also held a meeting with the Wuxi and Yixing governments, listening to their reports on the promotion of rural revitalization in local villages and towns.
