A team led by Arken Imirbaki, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), inspected enforcement of the Law on Popularization of Science and Technology in Beijing on April 14 and 15.
Li Wei, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, pledged at a symposium with the team to fully cooperate with the inspection and advance the enforcement of the law and accelerate the formulation of and revision to the related regulations at the municipal level to support Beijing's goals of becoming a global innovation hub and a top performer in science literacy.
Noting Beijing's achievements in enforcing the law, Imirbaki stressed the importance of science popularization in advancing innovation-driven social development and urged full implementation of provisions regarding the popularization of science and technology.
Inspection efforts should take a problem-oriented approach, get a complete picture of the law enforcement, give priority to identifying practical barriers, and collect specific ideas and new requirements for further revision of the law, so as to promote high-quality development of science popularization through the rule of law, according to Imirbaki.
