Noting that science publicity is equally as important as sci-tech innovation, Zhang said it's necessary to make continuous efforts to enforce the law and to strive for new progress in this regard.
He also called for law-based thinking and a problem-solving approach in science popularization and urged more efforts to create a favorable social atmosphere to bring science to the general public, to increase funding for publicity initiatives, and to build a talent team to advance the endeavor.
The meeting heard a report on the enforcement of the law in South China's Guangdong province and also held exchanges among officials, lawmakers and representatives from universities, businesses and science publicity communities.
