China's top legislator meets Gabonese president

BEIJING -- China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with President of the Gabonese Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhao, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said China is ready to work with Gabon to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, strengthen multilateral coordination and push bilateral relations to a higher level.

The legislatures of China and Gabon should strengthen friendly exchanges and provide better legal support for practical cooperation, Zhao said.

Zhao explained the theory and practice of Chinese modernization and stressed that China will provide new opportunities for world development with its new achievements in modernization.

Ali Bongo Ondimba said Gabon and China have the same views on some fundamental issues and the two sides have built strong mutual trust and friendship.

He said China's development model has set a good example for other developing countries. Gabon is committed to strengthening cooperation with China in various fields, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country.
