Zhang Qingwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), attended and addressed the opening ceremony of a seminar for parliamentarians from English-speaking African countries.

The seminar was themed on Chinese and African legislative bodies' missions in their country's path to modernization. He expressed his hope that through in-depth discussion, the seminar will make positive contributions to China and African countries' exploration of a path to modernization suited to their respective national conditions, as well as to building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
