Flourishing rose industry: Delegations explore Jinning district in SW China

KUNMING - Delegations of the 5th Seminar for Parliaments of Developing Countries visited a rose cultivation demonstration site located in Baofeng street, Jinning district, Kunming city, Southwest China’s Yunnan province, on July 11, 2023.

Jinning district boasts a horticultural planting scale of 61,000 acres, with an annual output of 5.566 billion rose stems and a total value of 3.4 billion yuan. Approximately 55,000 individuals are engaged in flower production, with an average disposable income of 25,000 yuan per person. Leveraging its unique natural resources and solid industrial foundation, Jinning district's flower industry is gradually transitioning from small-scale scattered operations to a specialized and large-scale sector. It is also shifting from a single low-end model to a diversified and high-quality approach.
