At the invitation of the Mexican federal legislature, Xiao Jie, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress (NPC), led a delegation to Mexico from July 11 to 13.
During the visit, he held talks with Mexican Senate President Alejandro Armenta and some members of the Mexican Senate and Chamber of Deputies, and met with Mexican Foreign Minister AlicIia Barcena.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, he said that China is ready to work together with Mexico to continuously enhance political mutual trust, fully leverage their complementary advantages and deepen bilateral cooperation, in a bid to better benefit the people of the two countries. China’s NPC is ready to strengthen exchanges and experience sharing with the Mexican legislative body to contribute to bilateral communication and cooperation, he added.
He also briefed the Mexican side about the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the first session of the 14th NPC, as well as China's economic and social development.
The Mexican side applauded China's development achievements and Mexico-China friendly relations, reiterated its firm support for the one-China policy and expressed their willingness to expand collaboration with China in such fields as the economy, trade and culture, so as to push for continuous achievements in bilateral relations.
During his visit, Xiao also visited the state of Quintana Roo, where he had in-depth discussions with the state governor, the president of state legislature, and the mayor of Cancun city on exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
