In a recent interview with Guangming Online, Cambodian Senator Oum Somaine illuminated China's pivotal role in Cambodia's progress, focusing on both capacity building and active involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Senator Somaine emphasized that capacity building is crucial for promoting local democracy in Cambodia. She found inspiration in China's local development initiatives, noting the harmonization of wealth distribution and the improved well-being of citizens through comprehensive agricultural progress.

Regarding the BRI, Senator Somaine underscored its positive impact on Cambodia through a lens of win-win cooperation. Highlighting projects like the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone and the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, she emphasized the boost in employment opportunities and logistic connectivity, exemplifying prosperous collaboration and mutual development.

Through China's guidance in capacity building and the BRI's tangible benefits, Cambodia looks to a future of strengthened democracy and enhanced infrastructure, Somaine said.
