The Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) held an oath-taking ceremony pledging allegiance to the Constitution at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Dec 29 after the conclusion of the seventh session of the 14th NPC Standing Committee. Ding Zhongli, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over and supervised the event.

The oath takers included Zhou Min, who was appointed as vice-chairperson of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the NPC; Sun Zhenping, who was appointed as deputy director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee; He Chengjun, who was appointed as deputy director of the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee; Dong Jun, who was appointed as minister of national defense; Lu Zhiyuan, who was appointed as minister of civil affairs; and Sun Yeli, who was appointed as minister of culture and tourism.
