BEIJING -- Executive chairpersons of the presidium of China's annual parliamentary session met Wednesday for the first time to review important documents.
Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and one of the executive chairpersons, presided over the meeting.
The executive chairpersons heard a report on how lawmakers thought about the government work report and what to be revised, as well as a draft resolution on the government work report.
They reviewed reports on lawmakers' opinions about the national economic and social development plan and the central and local budgets, as well as draft resolutions on the two documents.
Also tabled was a report from the NPC Law Committee on lawmakers' opinions about the draft revision to the Legislation Law and further improvement of the bill.
Before the chairpersons' meeting, the NPC Law Committee held a plenary meeting to draft the report based on opinions put forward by about 920 deputies during panel discussions and prepare an improved version of the bill.
They decided to submit these documents to the second meeting of the presidium.
