BEIJING -- China's top legislature wrapped up its bi-monthly session on Wednesday, adopting a new National Security Law and a legal decision to institutionalize pledges of allegiance to the Constitution by officials when taking office.
Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting of the session, which began on June 24.
The bi-monthly session also ratified an agreement on the founding of BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), which will fund infrastructure projects in the bloc and other developing economies.
A legal document authorizing the Supreme People's Procuratorate to test public interest litigation by prosecutors in civil and administrative cases in a two-year program was also adopted.
In addition, the top legislature also ratified a Sino-Kazakhstan criminal transfer treaty on judicial cooperation and a treaty to facilitate multilateral tax collection and management.
