Senior legislator meets CCLA co-chairmen

BEIJING -- Wang Chen, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with co-chairmen of the Canada-China Legislative Association, Joseph Day and Joe Peschisolido on Monday.

The two heads of state maintain close contact which has played an important leading role in the development of bilateral ties, Wang said.

"The NPC stands ready to work with the Canadian parliament to make positive contributions to enhancing political mutual trust, expanding pragmatic cooperation, and strengthening the exchanges and cooperation in legislation, the humanities and other fields," Wang said.

Day and Peschisolido said that the Canadian parliament attached great importance to developing ties with China and hoped to strengthen the exchange mechanism between the two legislatures to enhance friendship between the two peoples.
