Senior lawmakers hear reports on draft laws, resolutions

BEIJING -- The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) held a chairpersons' meeting Wednesday afternoon to hear reports on draft laws and resolutions.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

Li Fei, chairman of the NPC's Constitution and Law Committee, introduced the review results of a number of drafts, including a draft amendment to the Criminal Procedure Law, and draft revisions to the People's Courts Organic Law and the People's Procuratorates Organic Law.

Zhang Yesui, chairman of the NPC's Foreign Affairs Committee, reported on review results of treaties on criminal judicial assistance and extradition between China and Grenada, and draft decisions on their ratifications.

Yang Zhenwu, secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, made reports on deputy qualifications as well as official appointments and dismissals.

Xin Chunying, deputy secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, briefed newly added appointment and dismissal matters.

The reports will be submitted for review at the ongoing bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee, scheduled to conclude Friday.
