Senior lawmakers hear reports on draft laws, resolutions

BEIJING -- The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) held a chairpersons' meeting Friday afternoon to hear reports on draft laws and resolutions.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

Li Fei, chairman of the NPC's Constitution and Law Committee, introduced the review results of a number of drafts, including a draft amendment to the country's law on rural land contracts, second revisions to draft laws on farmland occupation taxes and vehicle purchase taxes, and the second draft revision to the civil servant law.

Zhang Yesui, chairman of the NPC's Foreign Affairs Committee, reported on review results and the draft resolution to ratify the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Convention on Countering Extremism.

Xin Chunying, deputy secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, briefed newly added appointment and dismissal matters.

The reports will be submitted for review at the ongoing bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee, scheduled to conclude Saturday.
