BEIJING -- Top legislator Li Zhanshu on Wednesday met with Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi, who came to China to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation scheduled for April 25 to 27.
Referring to the Belt and Road Initiative as an open platform to promote cooperation on equal footings to achieve win-win outcomes, Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), welcomed Nyusi to attend the forum.
China stands ready to work with the Mozambican side to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen efforts for the Belt and Road construction, and further upgrade mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, energy and resources, as well as infrastructure, Li said while hailing the development of bilateral ties and progress of pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Li also pledged to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' legislative institutions, with joint efforts from the NPC and the Mozambican parliament, so as to deepen friendship between the two peoples.
For his part, Nyusi said Mozambique is willing to work with China to jointly advance the Belt and Road construction, giving full play to its advantages in geography and resources, so as to share fruitful development outcomes.
