BEIJING -- Top legislator Li Zhanshu on Wednesday met with Chilean president Sebastian Pinera ahead of the opening of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Hailing the smooth development of bilateral ties and rapid progress of pragmatic cooperation in recent years, Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that the forum will bring new opportunities to two countries' mutually beneficial cooperation.
Li pledged to work with the Chilean side to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the forum, strengthen exchanges between the two countries' legislative bodies at different levels and in various fields including legislation, supervision and state governance, so as to provide legal guarantee and support to the development of bilateral ties.
Pinera told Li that Chilean people admires China's remarkable achievements. He vowed to continue to participate in building the Belt and Road, expand cooperation in various fields, and strengthen exchanges between the two countries' legislative bodies.
