Top legislator meets crown prince of Abu Dhabi

BEIJING -- Top legislator Li Zhanshu met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Monday in Beijing.

Li, also chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China stands ready to enhance mutual support with the UAE on issues regarding each other's core interests and major concerns.

He said the NPC is willing to work with the Federal National Council of the UAE to enhance exchanges and cooperation, focus on the implementation of consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and take the joint construction of the Belt and Road as the main line, promote cooperation in various fields, strengthen legislative experience exchanges and accelerate China-UAE cooperation at a higher level.

Mohammed said he regards China as his second hometown and positions UAE relations with China as a priority of UAE's foreign policy. The UAE speaks highly of the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation across-the-board and exchanges of the legislative bodies.
