Top legislature schedules bi-monthly session

BEIJING -- The top legislature will convene its bi-monthly session from Oct. 21 to 26, according to a statement issued after a chairpersons' meeting Monday.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

Attendees of the meeting suggested that legislators review a draft law on encryption, a draft section on marriage and family of the civil code, a draft revision to the Forest Law, a draft law on community corrections and a draft biosecurity law.

The top legislature is expected to deliberate draft revisions to the Minors Protection Law, the Law on the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and the Archives Law.

At the session, a draft decision on the National Supervisory Commission's formulation of supervision regulations will also be reviewed.

Lawmakers will consider a report on the administration of state assets in 2018, a report of the Supreme People's Court on strengthening criminal trials and a report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate on public interest litigation, among others.
