KUNMING -- Wang Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called for studying and putting into action the guiding principles from the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and advancing local legislation.
Wang, also the vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, stressed actively contributing to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and continue to modernize China's system and capacity for governance with high quality of legislation at a symposium on local legislation in southwestern Chinese city Kunming on Wednesday.
"Legislation is an important political activity of the state," Wang said.
He underlined the importance of improving the institution and mechanism of legislation, carrying out lawmaking in a well-conceived and democratic way and in accordance with the law, as well as enhancing the quality and efficiency of local legislation.
Wang also stressed promoting good practice and experience of building the grassroots-level legislation contact point for the Standing Committee of the NPC in a community in Shanghai.
