BEIJING -- A senior legislator has stressed fully implementing the Anti-Unfair Competition Law to improve the business environment and coordinate epidemic control with economic and social development.
Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks on Friday at a meeting of a law-enforcement inspection team of the NPC Standing Committee.
The Anti-Unfair Competition Law is a basic law enabling the country to regulate the order of market competition and maintain the operating mechanism of the market economy, Chen said.
To effectively implement the law, efforts must be made to adopt targeted measures to solve key problems and fix weaknesses in areas including legislation and law enforcement, Chen added.
The NPC Standing Committee launched the inspection on Friday, sending law-enforcement inspection groups to six provincial-level regions and entrusting eight standing committees of people's congresses at the provincial level to inspect the enforcement of the law in their provinces.
The inspection will focus on the revision of supporting regulations after the Anti-Unfair Competition Law was revised in 2019, and punishment for acts involving unfair competition, among others.
The law-enforcement inspection team will submit a report about the inspection to the NPC Standing Committee in late December, according to the meeting.
