BEIJING -- China's draft biosecurity law was submitted for its third reading to the ongoing session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, which runs from Tuesday to Saturday.
The draft stipulates that provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government shall establish a coordination mechanism for biosecurity work to organize, coordinate, and supervise the promotion of biosecurity-related work within their respective administrative areas.
The draft further clarifies the subjects responsible for releasing information about biosecurity, prescribing that important biosecurity information shall be released by the member units of the national biosecurity work coordination mechanism in compliance with their division of duties.
