Top legislator attends symposium with lawmakers

BEIJING -- Top legislator Li Zhanshu on Wednesday sat down with lawmakers at a symposium to listen to their comments and suggestions for the work of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee in 2020 and 2021.

A total of 55 NPC deputies attended the symposium. Most of them are from the grassroots level. They fully acknowledged the work of the NPC Standing Committee in the past year and offered their comments and suggestions.

The NPC Standing Committee has achieved new progress and results in various aspects of its work in the past year, said Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

Noting that 2021 is a year of special importance for China's modernization, Li called on lawmakers to maintain close ties with the people, earnestly perform their duties and jointly improve the work of the people's congresses in the new era.
