BEIJING -- The State Council on Friday held a meeting to study and implement the guiding principles of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Premier Li Keqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the State Council's leading Party members group, presided over the meeting of the group.

The plenary session was held in Beijing from Nov 8 to 11. The session adopted a landmark resolution on the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC's 100 years of endeavors.

The meeting noted that the resolution, a Marxist guiding document, will have a profound impact on the motivation of the whole Party to firmly and conscientiously fulfill its original aspiration and mission, and better uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

The State Council's leading Party members group and the government system should thoroughly study the spirit of the session, the meeting said.

It called for resolute efforts to uphold Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the authority of the Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership.

Stressing the need to follow the people-centered philosophy of development, the meeting urged efforts to improve people's well-being, promote common prosperity, deepen reform and opening-up, and take effective measures to handle new economic challenges while carrying out regular COVID-19 prevention measures.
