The Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) will work with the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) to promote high-quality development of judicial work, said Wan Exiang, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the RCCK Central Committee.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Zhang Jun, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and procurator-general of the SPP on Jan 12.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, Zhang Bojun, vice-chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, and Zhang Xueqiao, deputy procurator-general of the SPP and member of the Standing Committee of the RCCK Central Committee, attended the meeting.

Wan said that representatives of the SPP visited the RCCK last year and provided detailed responses afterward to the questions and suggestions presented by the RCCK members.

The SPP's focus on multi-party cooperation and work of the RCCK has materialized through support for the RCCK's democratic supervision on ecological protection of the Yangtze River and for their field researches, he said, adding that the two sides should continue to strengthen cooperation in these areas in the future.

Wan said that in the past year, the SPP has innovated its working methods to serve high-quality economic and social development and improvement of the people's livelihoods and well-being.

For the development of procuratorial work in the new year, he suggested: "The SPP should continue to adhere to the principle of reducing the number of arrests, being prudent when making prosecution decisions and applying custody measures, and work on detailed or alternative measures in this regard."

"The SPP should also strengthen procuratorial support for public interest litigation concerning environmental protection, particularly the prevention and control of pollution in the Yangtze River, and play a part in optimizing the business environment," he said.

Zhang said that 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the founding of the people's procuratorial system.

In the past year, procuratorial organs across the country have unswervingly adhered to the Party's absolute leadership over procuratorial work and incorporated political requirements into procuratorial performance, he said, adding that procuratorial organs put the people first and focused on resolving the most pressing difficulties and problems that are of great concern to the people.

In the new year, the SPP will continue to strengthen legal supervision and further strengthen communication and cooperation with the RCCK.

Zheng said that in the past year, the SPP has been focusing on the central task and serving the overall interests and achieved positive outcomes in exploring new system, mechanism and working methods that are adaptable to new problems and tasks.

In particular, the SPP's efforts in building a procuratorial force that is strictly managed, politically strong and recognized by the public are applaudable, he said.

Zheng said that the SPP should put more efforts in reducing the number of arrests, being prudent when making prosecution decisions and applying custody measures, and cracking down on corruption in accordance with the law.
