The National People's Congress (NPC) held a meeting on environmental protection and resources conservation on Jan 17. Shen Yueyue and Ding Zhongli, both vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the meeting.

The meeting noted that the 13th NPC Standing Committee has gone all out to strengthen legislation and supervision, improved the legal system for ecological and environmental protection, and facilitated solid progress in the country's campaign for "blue sky, clean water and pollution-free land.”

A thorough study and implementation of the guiding principle of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was called for at the meeting, which also urged the NPC to perform duty in accordance with law, offer robust legal protection for the development of ecological civilization, give play to the supportive role of sci-tech innovation, and fulfill the top legislature's responsibilities in legislation, supervision and deputy support in the field of environmental protection and resources conservation.
