A team led by Xian Tieke, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the NPC's Supervisory and Judicial Affairs Committee, visited the Supreme People's Court (SPC) on April 20 to survey comprehensive reform of the judicial system, learn about progress in handling motions and suggestions submitted by lawmakers, and seek opinions on the 14th NPC Standing Committee's legislation agenda.

At a meeting chaired by the SPC Vice-President Yang Wanming, the team heard briefings on the reform measures, efforts to raise public awareness of the law, revision of provisions on foreign-related civil procedures, and preparation for legislation related to compulsory execution of civil judgments.

Xian fully affirmed the courts' achievements in judicial work, adding that the NPC's Supervisory and Judicial Affairs Committee will further strengthen communication with the top court to better support the rule of law.

Yang said that the SPC will ensure progress in relevant tasks and perform its duties as entrusted by the Constitution and laws under supervision and guidance of the NPC and its Standing Committee.
