Wang Chen, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and chief of the China Law Society, called for strengthening law publicity and education among the public to advance the rule of law in the country.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting on a law popularization program featuring 100 lectures given by 100 jurists on July 11, in Beijing.
He applauded the achievements made during the campaign in 2021, which saw a record number of sessions and participants as well as boosted legal awareness among the public.

Following a people-centered approach and focusing on people's pressing concerns, persistent efforts should be made to enhance public understanding of the Civil Code and other laws, and let young legal experts and scholars play more active roles at the grassroots level, said Wang.
The campaign, aiming to raise the public awareness of the rule of law, has been jointly organized by the China Law Society and several departments and ministries, including the Ministry of Justice.
