A team led by Ji Bingxuan, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, visited East China's Anhui province from Aug 15 to 19 to inspect the enforcement of the law on the promotion of rural vitalization.
In the cities of Anqing, Tongling, Wuhu, Ma'anshan and Hefei, the team checked the development of pilot programs designed to vitalize the countryside and enhance the rural environment, and visited agro-industrial parks, family-run farms, and enterprises specialized in agricultural science and technology.
Ji hailed Anhui's achievements in promoting the publicity and enforcement of the law, advancing the strategy with a systematic approach, and nurturing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas on all fronts.
He stressed the importance of the law in realizing the objective of marching toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.
He also called on the province to carry forward "the spirit of Xiaogang", in honor of a village in the province considered as the starting point of China's rural reform, and take effective and innovative measures to address problems affecting industrial development, social governance, the supply of production factors, and urban-rural development integration.
More efforts are needed to support the development of specialty craft industries and new forms of the rural collective economy, make increasing farmers' income a central task of the rural vitalization strategy, and deepen the reform of the rural collective property rights system, according to Ji.
At a meeting held in the province's capital city Hefei, the team heard a report on the law enforcement in Anhui made by Vice-governor Zhang Shuguang. Tao Minglun, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People's Congress, also said that the province will actively respond to requirements raised by the team and constantly improve laws and regulations for the rural vitalization endeavor.
