A National People's Congress team visited Luoyang in Central China;s Henan province on Sept 19 and 20 to carry out special research for the purposes of legislation on the rural collective economic organizations, integration of small-scale farmers into modern agricultural development and progress of other countryside-related endeavors.
In Hengshui town, the team enquired in detail about the development of rural collective economy and property rights transfer, and called for further efforts to boost collective economy and increase farmers' income.
They also looked into the progress in building high-standard farmland, an important measure to ensure food security, and underlined the significance of using new crop varieties, machines and techniques.
In the city;s Jianji Agricultural Science and Technology Industrial Park, the team learned about the company;s operation and encouraged the company to make more efforts to promote production and sales and deliver more benefits to farmers.
The team also heard reports regarding rural vitalization and collected suggestions from grassroots officials and representatives of new types of agricultural businesses and social service organizations.
With priority given to seeds and farmland, more efforts are needed to accelerate the construction of a modern agricultural industry system, enhance brand building and quality upgrading, and deepen reforms in rural areas, according to the team, which also urged accelerating legislation on rural collective economic organizations to promote the healthy development of collective economy in accordance with the law.
