From March 28 to 31, Xiao Jie, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), conducted a field survey on the economic performance, budget execution and transfer payments in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
During the survey, the team held symposiums to listen to work reports and proposals made by local people's congresses, governments and related departments. The team also conducted on-site surveys of local schools, enterprises and villages.
Xiao called on Guangxi to comprehensively implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the first and second plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee and act on the decisions and requirements adopted by the central conference on work related to people's congresses and the first session of the 14th NPC.
He also urged efforts to give full play to the roles of grassroots people's congresses and deputies, strengthen budget reviews and supervision, enhance the efficient use of fiscal funds, and promote economic growth in both quality and quantity.
