Zhang Xuan, a member of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and deputy director of the NPC Supervisory and Judicial Affairs Committee, led a delegation to East China's Jiangxi province from April 10 to 11, to survey the region’s judicial work related to environmental protection and resource conservation.
At a symposium in Nanchang, capital city of Jiangxi, Zhang heard work reports from the judicial and public security departments at provincial and municipal levels, and solicited the opinions and proposals of officials from provincial authorities, experts, scholars and lawmakers.
Zhang said that Jiangxi has firmly implemented the policies and decisions of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, targeted overall economic and social development, adopted a series of innovative and applicable approaches and methods to strengthen environmental protection and resource conservation, and made noticeable achievements in the building of an ecological civilization.
Zhang called for further efforts to deepen systematic governance, enhance coordination in the fulfillment of obligations, and improve judicial work on environmental protection and resource conservation. Efforts should also be doubled to promote the publicity of relevant laws and guide the public to further raise their environmental protection awareness to ensure the full implementation of relevant laws and regulations, she added.
Hu Shizhong, vice-chairman of Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, presided over the symposium. He conveyed thanks to the NPC Supervisory and Judicial Affairs Committee for its guidance on Jiangxi's judicial work on environmental protection and resource conservation during the visit, and said that provincial legislature will closely follow the requirements of the NPC survey team, fulfill its functions, supervise and support the judicial departments at all levels across the province to get involved in ecological protection and high-quality development, and enhance judicial work, so as to provide strong law-based guarantees for the realization of the Beautiful China initiative with regional characteristics.
