China to review 24 new legislative bills in 2023

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) said that it will conduct initial review of 18 laws and effectively coordinate legislative deliberation to provide high-quality legal guarantee for accelerating the legalization of various aspects of national work.

According to the NPC annual legislation plan, the laws to be modified by the lawmakers will include the Company Law, the Law on Science and Technology Popularization, the law on Cultural Relics Protection and the Law on Emergency Response. The lawmakers will conduct legislation for laws such as the Law on Financial Stability, the Law on Value Added Tax, the Law on Preschool Education, the Law on Patriotism Education, the Law on Social Assistance and the Law on Civil Enforcement, to support the country’s social and economic development.

Lawmakers will make preliminary reviews for the revision of the Law on Keeping State Secrets and the Law on Anti-Unfair Competition, and the drafting of the Law on Farmland protection, the Law on Real Estate Registration and the Law on Prevention and Control of Cybercrime.

The NPC Standing Committee will also improve the procedural mechanism for reviewing the constitutionality of draft laws and introduce measures to strengthen the filing and review system.
