Ecological conservation is an initiative vital for sustaining the Chinese nation's development. To protect the environment is to protect productivity, and to improve the environment is to boost productivity. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Conservation, environmental protection endeavors in China have seen sweeping, historic, and transformative changes, leading to remarkable achievements in ecological conservation. This has given the people a strong sense of gain and happiness and powerfully advanced harmony between humanity and nature as a shared understanding both within the Party and throughout society. The principle that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has become a common vision for the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, while green, circular, and low-carbon development has turned into a collective action across all regions and departments. To further study, promote, and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Conservation, strengthen its public outreach, raise ecological awareness across society, enhance conscious thoughts and actions on ecological conservation and environmental protection among the public, and advance ecological conservation with dedicated efforts and relentless perseverance as well as by providing sustained impetus to achieve new milestones, the 3rd Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fourteenth National People's Congress decides:

August 15 shall be designated as the National Ecology Day. The state shall carry out public awareness activities on ecological conservation through various means.
