Li Hongzhong, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with Márta Mátrai, deputy of the speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, in Beijing on Aug 22, 2023.

Li said that under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Hungarian leaders, the China-Hungary comprehensive strategic partnership continues to develop. The legislative bodies of the two countries should maintain high-level exchanges to consolidate mutual political trust, strengthen exchanges at all levels to support the deepening of practical cooperation, give full play to the role of friendly groups to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and maintain close multilateral coordination and cooperation to jointly uphold multilateralism, he added.

Mátrai said that the Hungarian National Assembly is willing to play an active role as a legislative body in promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
