China's top legislator meets Nepalese PM

BEIJING -- China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Beijing on Monday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, called on the two sides to consolidate strategic mutual trust, carry forward traditional friendship, jointly build the Belt and Road with high quality, and continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns.

Introducing the concept and practice of whole-process people's democracy to Prachanda, Zhao said the NPC is willing to work with the Nepalese parliament to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies.

Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is willing to deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and promote the bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity to achieve fruitful results, Prachanda said.
