Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress, met with a delegation of senior cadres of the Panameñista Party of Panama led by its president José Isabel Blandón in Beijing on Nov 14.

Li said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties six years ago, the relations between China and Panama have achieved rapid development with fruitful practical cooperation benefiting the two countries and peoples. The CPC cherishes the traditional friendship with the Panameñista Party, and is willing to enhance exchanges between political parties and legislative bodies of the two countries, deepen communication on governance, and promote steady and long-term development of bilateral relations, he added.

Blandón said that the establishment of Panama-China relations serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, noting that the Panameñista Party hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and push forward common development.
