At the invitation of the National Assembly of Seychelles, Cai Dafeng, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress, led a delegation to Seychelles from June 3 to 5, during which he held talks with Ahmed Afif, vice-president of Seychelles, and Roger Mancienne, speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles.
Cai said that China and Seychelles enjoy profound traditional friendship, noting that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 48 years ago, the two countries have always respected each other and treated each other as equals.
In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Seychelles political mutual trust has been deepened and cooperation in various fields has been steadily advanced, he said, adding that China is willing to work together with Seychelles to promote the sustained development of bilateral relations and deliver more benefits to the two peoples. He also briefed the Seychellois side about the latest summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
The Seychellois side thanked China for its strong support for its national development and improvement of people's livelihoods, and reiterated their firm adherence to the one-China policy. They said that they support China in its efforts to promote peaceful reunification and safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and hope to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.
During his stay in Seychelles, Cai also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Seychelles-China Friendship Promotion Association, visited the Seychellois Radio and Television Center built with Chinese assistance, and extended regards to the Chinese medical aid team in Seychelles.
