China's top legislator meets with Nepali PM

BEIJING -- Zhao Leji, China's top legislator, met with Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that China and Nepal have treated each other with respect and equality, engaged in mutually beneficial cooperation, and have set a good example of friendly coexistence between countries with different social systems and sizes.

Zhao said that China is willing to work with Nepal to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, expand high-level strategic cooperation, and advance the China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity.

He added that the NPC of China is willing to strengthen exchange at all levels with the Nepali Parliament, share legislative experience, and provide legal guarantees for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

Noting that Nepal and China are good friends, good neighbors and good partners, Oli said Nepal attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, adheres firmly to the one-China principle, and supports and actively participates in the Global Development Initiative.

Oli said that Nepal is willing to deepen Belt and Road cooperation with China and to strengthen exchange between legislative institutions to achieve common development and prosperity.
