Senior Chinese legislator meets Pakistani guests in Beijing

BEIJING -- Li Hongzhong, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met with a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led by Maryam Nawaz Sharif, senior vice president of the league and chief minister of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Li, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations have achieved high-level development.

Li said that China is ready to work with Pakistan to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchange between political parties and localities, and accelerate the construction of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

Maryam congratulated China on its continuous progress toward the goals of modernization and national rejuvenation, and said that she will remain committed to deepening Pakistan-China relations.
