Members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) took part in the planting of hundreds of saplings of pine, crabapple and Chinese flowering plum trees at a park in Beijing's Fengtai district on April 9.

Those in attendance included NPC Standing Committee vice-chairmen Wang Dongming, Hao Mingjin, Wu Weihua, Peng Qinghua, Zhang Qingwei and Shohrat Zakir. The secretary-general and deputy secretaries-general of the NPC Standing Committee, members of the committee's Leading Party Members Group and members of special committees also participated.

The 14th NPC Standing Committee attaches great importance to environmental protection, actively advances the compilation of an environmental code and continuously strengthens the legal system for environmental protection.

Over the years, the NPC Standing Committee has been committed to carrying out voluntary tree planting activities and promoting green development with concrete actions to contribute to building a Beautiful China.
