Senior legislator inspects enforcement of Trade Union Law in Chongqing

From May 21 to 23, Wang Dongming, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, led an inspection team to Southwest China's Chongqing municipality to learn about the enforcement of the Trade Union Law.

He emphasized the need to promote the comprehensive and effective implementation of the law and better leverage the role of trade unions as a bridge between the Communist Party of China and workers. He also urged the mobilization of hundreds of millions of workers to fully play their role as the main force in advancing Chinese modernization.

He acknowledged the achievements Chongqing has made in implementing the Trade Union Law, stressing that inspections should be conducted in accordance with statutory duties, within statutory limits, and in compliance with statutory procedures and legal provisions.

This enforcement inspection aims to comprehensively promote the implementation of the Trade Union Law and related labor laws and regulations, actively respond to the concerns of workers, effectively safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and promote their all-round development, he added. He also called for deepening the reform of building a high-quality industrial workforce to support Chinese modernization.

The team conducted on-site inspections in districts of Jiangbei, Yubei, Jiulongpo, Shapingba, Banan and Yuzhong and visited the Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum.
