Officials who were granted letters of appointment took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution at a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Oct 28, following the conclusion of the 18th session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee. Li Hongzhong, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the ceremony.

The appointees are Zhang Shengmin, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, Hao Peng, vice-chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the NPC, Sun Shaocheng, vice-chairman of the Social Development Affairs Committee of the NPC, and Zhai Wei, vice-chairman of the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee.
