China's ecological environment code, China's second law named "code" to be submitted for deliberation at this year's two sessions, is more than just an integration of existing laws, noted Dimitri de Boer, Special Advisor of CCICED, in an interview with UnboxingChina. It establishes a comprehensive legal foundation, streamlines and integrates key global environmental issues such as climate change and pollution control, clarifies the responsibilities of many social actors including governments and enterprises, and provides guidance for enterprises on future green investment. It also sends a strong signal and is practically significant and valuable for all stakeholders in global environmental governance.
