Members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) deliberated on draft revisions to China's Environmental Protection Law on Tuesday, saying the draft is "mature" and that it is ready to be put to a vote.
"This means China would have to cut its energy consumption per unit of GDP by at least 3.9 percent each year for the next two years to achieve that goal," Lu said on the sidelines of a bimonthly NPC session.
"The bill adds more items to set up a unified standard in monitoring key polluted areas, and we will encourage clean energy and the recycling of resources." Zhang said.
A draft interpretation to China's criminal procedure law was tabled for reading on Monday to clear up ambiguities in juvenile cases.
